irreverent ramblings at 12:17am...

if there's no such thing as a "British Accent", then shouldn't that saying be, "the sun never sets on the English empire"?

It may be late, but it seems to me that -

1. There's no such thing as a 'British accent'; and

2. The sun never sets on the British empire,

are entirely compatible statements.

That is, there could be a singular empire, namely the British one, and that empire could be comprised of numerous accents.

If I had an empire I would be tolerant of at least several different accents.  :-)

If you had an empire, wouldn't it be subject to your whims? :-)

but bodawei, maybe you're right, they're compatible.  so much for whimsy.
