Yesterday I crashed the iPhone while trying to load sina.com.cn...now I am careful with such sites. Anybody had similar experiences and recommendations how to avoid such situations?

The 2.2-update healed it (for the most part).

I was hoping this tv site would work on the iphone but the video won't seem to play. Good site anyway though.

BTW if you find that Safari is crashing a lot, rebooting your iphone should help.

Try this on your iphone: http://m.cri.cn/cn/

It's a cute little mobile China news site.

There is an app called SinaReader which is worth a look.

The trick is to interrupt the loading of the page as right when the first text shows up.

Thereby you can read the page and follow the links (the individual articles are harmless for the most part). Once in a while Safari crashes anyway, but it kind of works.

Interesting. I'll try to reproduce it.

It crashed entirely, no reaction whatsoever for 10 minutes (music got a hicup first and then stopped playing). Maybe the problem was that I also turned the phone while loading. After a reboot everything went back to normal.

I just tried it, and it crashed Safari, but not the phone itself. Did it crash everything for you? I've never seen anything other than 3rd party apps suceed in crashing the entire phone.
