Typing Chinese characters...?

Many users seem to be very good at typing Chinese characters.  It has also been a user tip on the c-pod splash page for awhile- 'rather than worry about writing characters, learn to type them.'

Can anyone share the best way to learn how to do this?

There are actually a couple of pages in the Help section that explain the technical side of this problem.
