Bilingual podcast on Shanghai technology attractions

July 16, 2008 at 08:24 PM posted in General DiscussionHi all, stumbled on this bilingual podast from Shanghaidaily.com that features 'guides to Shanghai's major attractions on science and technology'. Who knew that Shanghai has an eyeglasses museum?
These are about 20 minutes, a bit in depth, and advanced level (scientific language); more suited for a plane or road trip than your daily commute. No pinyin, but transcripts and audio both in English and Chinese.

user20941, click the 中文 link directly to the right of the small microphone symbol and you get Chinese dialogue. Click the 中文 link to the right of the PDF symbol and you get the Chinese text that the announcer is reading (except for theintroduction).
Lots of good vocab. Thanks sushan.

Sushan: Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! I can't wait to study these!
Jasmine: It sounds like American English to me. The English speaker in the "Tunnel Science & Technology Museum" sounds like someone from near Philadelphia trying to speak really neutral English, but still drawing out and emphasizing the long O.

Ooh, they're great for English practise as well! I will recommend them to my students. It's in American English, isn't it?
It takes like ages to download, though. (Took 40 minutes to get the first file...)
