Any ideas??

For Chinese Fonts:
I have been using them since I started typing Chinese in 2001. The easiest way to find fonts, and free, is to search for "fonts" by the Chinese word for fonts rather than English:
First, "fonts" in Chinese is: 字体 (zìtǐ lit: character-body)
Then go to Google and type:
"字体" (or "中文字体" to be more exact) and pretty much any of the results have fonts.
(another tip is to do an image search for ""字体" at images.google.com... when you see the sample image of a font you like, click it, then go to the containing page of that image, and download the font)

I installed the QQ IME. Interestingly it looks almost the same as the google IME http://www.google.com/support/pinyin/

Everyone should give this QQ IME a try, it's easily the best one I've tried. You can set your own shortcut for switching between simplified and traditional, it even has customizable skins.

Don't think there is a English version, no. You'll need to set your non-unicode language to Chinese for it to work probably I think.

@bazza
this unispim site...is there an english version? or, actually, just how do I get it to download and work without killing my comp/ myself?
@clarsen
I did a search for Google chinese fonts and I don't think I found what you found. what exactly was it called? it sounds really nice!
also, sometimes it seems like I have trouble getting anyting other than simsun (I think I have a few fonts...I have Windows Vista) I have to work with my input thingy...is there a reason for this?
I promise I am not as computer illiterate as I sound...I just have issues with certain things like this!
