March 13, 2008 at 02:31 AMNot trying to hijack, but just read this from wiki: After 25 years of making movies, Cheung is deciding to retire from acting and pursue a career as a film composer. She allows that there might be room for an occasional comedic role, but she would like to paint and compose music, after fulfilling her acting potential. I completely respect her for moving towards new artistic directions, but bummer for us who love her on the big screen :(

Bill, I am so JEALOUS! She is one of my favorite actresses. Amazing in "Clean", and of course I agree with Amber on "In the Mood..."
So did you try to speak Chinese with her...or English I assume, since she she grew up in England?
Okay, so give it up, we want the scoop (at least I do).
Hmmmm, maybe we could have a lesson based on Bill's dialogue with her!

Are you kidding me?? Wow! How did this happen?
I bet Dave and Amber will be particularly envious...

March 13, 2008 at 06:44 AMOk, Ok, enough headline grabbing. Time for a few (less exciting) truths.
Last night my girlfriend and I were at the opening of the China Design Now exhibition in London. She introduced me to someone she knows. Moments later, a young couple came up to him and started talking to him. I had absolutely no idea who they were and so the introductions were plain and simple, something along the lines of, "Maggie, this is Bill." I can't think I replied with more than something along the lines of, "Hi. Nice to meet you".
Anyway, it wasn't long before I felt a tug at my arm and I was being dragged out of earshot. "Bill, do you know who they are?" "No." "That's Maggie Cheung, OMG, etc etc etc." It was only from her excitement that I realised she might actually be someone famous.
A brief encounter with only a few words exchanged and all of them in English, but nonetheless it was an encounter that I felt I had to share :P
- She looks amazingly young and I was way off when asked to guess her age.
- She was with her partner, Ole Scheeren, the architect of the new CCTV building.
