Pinyin Input

Hello. I'm new to learning the language and ChinesePod. I've noticed that when I do the practice exercises, I don't score points in the "Discussion" section where I have to listen and then type what I hear because my spelling doesn't contain the necessary tonal notations. Can some tell me how to achieve this using my keyboard? My current OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

If you are taking the pinyin test on the dictation part of the page, you can type in the chinese like this:

> ni3 hao3

If you are taking the test in either Simplified/Traditional, you will need to have an IME chinese keyboard installed on your computer.  

Since you are using Windows, you can follow microsofts instructions on adding an input language by clicking the link.
