humility

My understanding is that "humility" is a very classically important concept in Chinese thinking. What's the best translation for "humility" in that deep, personal characteristic use of it (i.e. as opposed to simply saying that someone shows some modesty in a particular instance). Like "Confucius stressed humility as a paramount virtue" - that kind of thing. And what is the difference between 谦逊 and 谦恭?

谦恭   polite and modest  “恭”主要是“对人尊敬，有礼貌”。一般说：对人很谦恭

谦逊 humility  一般说：XX很谦逊。
