It says you can speak English into it and it will say it back to you in Chinese. Sounds like it only has English speech recognition though.
Pretty expensive as well.

Go to the ectaco web site and read the pdf manual carefully, you can not just say anything into it for it to translate.

Voiced in Chinese-Simplified that IS quite a feat. Good thing it wasn't in Chinese-Traditional that would have been so much harder to understand...
(Yes, I know, no one gets my humor. Ever.)
