Skritter - Clear your Cache if Not Working

Dear Premium users who use the "Writing Practice" provide on the vocabulary pages,

If Skritter is not working, it is because your browser is still using a cached version. At the end of last year, just weeks ago, the company behind Skritter changed their server and we updated their flash file, but I'm aware now that many still have the old version in their cache.

So, please clear your cache. You don't have to clear your URL history, or your cookies, your form completion, etc.... just your cache which is a good thing to clear often anyway. Go to your browser options/preferences/settings page (depending on what Browser you are using) and find where you can clear your cache... and clear it "Since the Beginning" or "All" or however your browser puts it, but uncheck History and Cookies and Form fields. This should then get you using the new Skritter!

Happy Skrittering!

Hello i'm in china now and skritter is not working.I installed a fresh new firefox version andd I cleared my cache. It just keeps on loading (the dots.)

It really is a big hassle not to be able to use skritter for vocabulary training.

Rich,

Regarding Skritter servers being blocked in China, they have a China site for their own subscribers to use, so maybe there is some way ChinesePod can incorporate that. Skritter has many customers in China that can use the site without a VPN. But there might be other tech issues because Skritter customers who also subscribe to ChinesePod have been noting that their ability to pull in their CPod vocabulary lists for us in Skritter has stopped working last week. Could be a problem on the Skritter side, but might be worth looking into from the CPod side.

Thanks.

Songbo,

You may want to consider getting a subscription to Skritter (instead of just using the "Skritter Lite" version on Chinese Pod.) All of your Chinese Pod lesson vocabulary can be accessed from Skritter, and they have a China mirror web site that gets around the problem of being blocked in China. Its a good way to leverage the benefits of you Chinese Pod subscription.

Yes, it is an "in China" problem...VPN required. Yes, thanks to China, VPN companies rake in the dough, and raise up support costs...ugh.

Songbo, was just informed by our customer service (who reminded me) that in China for some reason the Skritter servers are blocked. Yeah, language learning is a BIG NO NO in China, lol. So sadly it may be you need to have a VPN. Got one of those? If you do, please turn it on and try. Let us know the results. Thanks.

Ok, will look into it. Have you tried it in Chrome? Just curious, but I doubt it is a browser issue. Also, has it been happening for a while? Sometimes it could just be at the time the Skritter server (not ours, but a 3rd party) might be having problems, not responding to our request, etc.

If this doesn't work, please do let us know. I even had the problem myself on another browser that had the cached version, and it didn't load, but when I did a hard reload of the page, I had no problem using Skritter. If after clearing your cache it still isn't working for you, please let me know here what browser you are using and what version of the browser. Thanks!
