slow downloads

I've set up my itunes to receive new podcasts via RSS feed.  Most days it does not work.  Like today, trying to down load an old podcast after bookmarking it, and it counts up the minutes to 3 hrs or so.  After that, it tries, then fails to download the podcast.  This happens most of the time.  Some days, it seems to work ok, and I can bookmark, and download podcasts without much problems.  However, this is not so often.

While the connection speeds in Shanghai are never so great, my success ratio is so low, that I wonder what the problem can be.

I have a similar problem - every time I try to download about six or more lessons the downloads simply stop working for a few hours. I study before and during work at lunch at a coffee shop with no wireless access, so I like to download about eight lessons beforehand. At the moment that means downloading about half of them in the evening until they inevitably stop working, and then hurriedly downloading the rest of them the morning before work while getting ready.

Not in China, but todays lesson won't download at all from the site, and is downloading at a snails pace through itunes [...over 30minutes and usually takes under a minute, while other stuff in is downloading at usual rapid pace].

Also, Sunday's News and Features didn't come through until after Mondays lesson...was that just me or was there  a hiccough?

Thanks JC. It looks like it's only a problem with yesterdays lesson. Today's lesson downloaded fine as did every other day's lessons. But yesterdays lesson still won't download from the site. Just thought you should know.

Hi,

I'm not sure about the download speeds- I've asked tech to look into it.

As for the News and Features, this week we simply published it on Monday.

Hi,

Users in China have seen inconsistent connection speeds like this for the past month or so. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason into who does and doesn't have trouble- we're also in Shanghai but don't have trouble downloading (either at home or in the office).

If you have access to a VPN, this will surely remedy any of these download problems. In the meantime, we're doing futher tests. We're committed to ensuring that all our users have access to lessons.
