Hi there, i'm currently using the Sougu Pinyin Input method for my Mac.  It can be found here http://pinyin.sogou.com/mac/

But for some excercises I need to write it as pinyin. Is it possible for the input method also to write it as pinyin but with the tone marks?

I use IMKQIM. I had to pay for it back in the day, but looks like it may be free now. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21836/imkqim

It allows you to write in pinyin using the tab button. It may not be the fastest method out there, but it might work for you, depending on how much you need to write.

Hi,

I've never used Sougou on my Mac, but I do use it on my PC in the office. I don't think it has Pinyin as a feature (it's designed for primarily Chinese users, most of whom don't bother with pinyin).

With our exercises, however, you can simply write the tone number after the syllable (eg, Ni3hao3) and it will convert the tone for you.

If you're interested in an actual pinyin writer, Greg told me about something called Pinyinput, but I'm not sure if it's available on Mac. Check it out, though.

Best,

JC
