John: Right and so then I switch lines to go to the fast one

John: So you're kind of agitated, you're anxious and irritated

Dilu: 恩，有一点这种感觉

John: OK, so this is 烦躁。 That's 2nd tone, 4th tone

Dilu: 对，第二声和第四声， 烦躁。不如说你的妈妈和你的老婆吵架，然后你就不知到因该怎么办，到底帮妈妈还是帮老婆就会很烦躁

John: 老婆

Dilu: 那你的妈妈会很生气

John: OK, now I know the word 烦 means like annoying, frustrating

John: So 烦躁 is that similar?

John: Like something's really heavy, hitting pretty hard

John: So it's kind of like 'smack' or 'pound' or 'smash'. Sounds like this guy got hit pretty hard huh?

Dilu: 恩，肯定是

John: OK and you said 客户的脑袋

Dilu: 恩

John: So 脑袋 that literally means 'brain bag' right?

Dilu: What is a brain-bag? 哈哈

John: 脑 is like a head, brain

Dilu: I know the English

John: 哈哈哈

John: No, no

D(2): I'm guessing it's either 咳 (hāi - sound of sighing) or 嗨 (hāi - oh alas) - straight from a dictionary. Pretty sure the [x] is 的.

John: OK, so 客户 that's the client

Dilu: 恩

John: Um, 砸到了客户的脑袋

Dilu: 哎呀

John: Does that mean like 'smacked the client in the head'?

Dilu: 对啊 ［坏啊］真实的，好痛 [x] 感觉

John: So 砸 can you tell us something about this verb? 2nd tone right? 砸

Dilu: 恩，砸，第二声。砸到了客户的脑袋

John: So 砸到，this 砸 can you tell us something about it? Is it like 打 or what is it?

Dilu: 恩，砸其实 [让] 人感觉就是很重的东西

Dilu: 突然飞了进来，突然飞了进来

John: So it suddenly flew in

John: Now we can say 飞了进来 can we also say 飞进来了?

John: So 棒球 that's a baseball right?

John: Suddenly, right?

Dilu: 恩，阿，掉这个字的意思呢就是 to drop, 我们常常说掉了钱，那其实就是钱没有了，有可能是 drop, 有可能是你忘记了

John: Or maybe someone even stole it?

Dilu: 阿，对，对，对

John: So 掉 can mean 'drop' but it can also mean 'to lose'

Dilu: 对，那你也不知到其实

John: OK, so 掉, that's 4th tone right?

Dilu: 恩，没错。掉了两百块钱

John: OK, so he lost 200 RMB and then what happened?

Dilu: 艾，然后在下午谈生意的时候，一个棒球突然飞了进来

John: Right, in English we say 'because something blah blah blah...' or something happened 'so'...

John: But in Chinese you use them both in the same sentence

Dilu: 恩，那在中文里面两个常常会一起说‘因为什么什么，所以什么什么’

John: Right, so you don't absolutely have to use them both in one sentence, but you frequently see it that way, right?

Dilu: 恩，没错

John: OK

Dilu: 感觉时间非常长

John: OK, so it's like a long time, like continuously playing the drums all the way until 12:30

Dilu: 对对对，当中也不会停啊，就一直都在打鼓

John: Yeah, without stopping

Dilu: 恩，那所以我没有睡好

John: OK, so he didn't sleep well and then...

Dilu: 恩，那因为没有睡好呢，所以早上心情很不好

John: OK, so here we have a pattern. These aren't hard words, but um, notice that in Chinese you kind of repeat them,where you don't have to in English...so these two words I'm talking about are...

John: So practicing playing the drums

Dilu: 恩

John: So playing the drums in Chinese is...

Dilu: 打鼓， 打鼓。Literally it's 'beating the drum'

John: OK, two 3rd tones

Dilu: 艾，没错，打鼓

John: And then how long?

Dilu: 哦，打鼓直到十二点半，直到十二点半

John: OK, so 直到 is that different from just 到？Like until...

Dilu: 那直到呢，就是一直到

John: OK, 昨晚 that's another way of saying...

Dilu: 昨天晚上

John: OK, then he's talkin' about a person, who is this person?

Dilu: 恩，那是他的邻居，邻居

John: All-right, this is the word for neighbour, right?

Dilu: 没错，就是主在你旁边的人

John: OK, and the tones are...
