New Newbie from the Netherlands

June 25, 2011 at 02:56 PM posted in General DiscussionNihao, everybody! My name is Marjati and I am from the Netherlands. I've decided to learn the Chinese language and came across this site. After finding out how it works, I subscribed for a one year Premium account. Now I've started studying the introduction-lesson set. Your method is great! It is really fun to learn this way. I combine this with a summer course of chinese painting, also on-line. So, let's see what I can achieve in the next months!
I have a newbie-question. How can I type chinese characters on my key-board?

Marjati,
If you have a Chinese character test, as you have a premium account, in case you haven't discovered it yet, you can try the writing practice in the vocab section of each lesson and if you save the vocab, you can then go to tools....vocab and practice writing there. Good luck :)

Marjati,
Download Google Pinyin input. It's a great tool.
Chinese painting and Chinese language, you will have a great summer!

Nihao Marjati-
I know that there are websites that you can type the pinyin into and select the character, and once you've made the phrase you can copy and paste it wherever. Here's an example:http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~zxie3/ime.html
There should also be applications available, like Google Pinyin, that can help you with this.
