Almost a Newbie

I signed up for the trial, checked out the lessons, was very impressed with the quality, and intended to sign up. But then I decided to edit my profile first. So, I clicked the drop-down menu for "country", and I saw "TAIWAN, PROVINCE OF CHINA". Is this a language-learning website, or a political forum. No, we are not a province of China... never have been. You say that your students can learn language and culture at the same time. That's not culture... It shows complete lack of respect for Taiwan. Too bad... I really liked your learning methods, but I wont be joining. You probably wont let this stay posted for very long, but I feel better now that I have told you how I feel about it............. Please reconsider your attitude.

"No, we are not a province of China"

Are you Taiwanese then?

I think anything that originates from inside China would have to label Taiwan this way otherwise it may been seen by the authorities in China as a political statement to the contrary.

Actually I am amazed at how strongly the general public in China feel about this too. I once signed up to live mocha with an Avatar that was the England flag with a Taiwanse flag embedded in one of the corners. You wouldn't beleive how many friend requests and messages I got just so people could tell me off about it. :)
