文殊，地藏 and 普贤 are usually referred to as 他 and 观音 as 她。Collectively, I'd be inclined to use 他们 but not sure if there's any particular convention. I wouldn't worry about it too much for the sake of the transcript, though it would be interesting to know...

Interesting - I wonder why her gender morphed. But the real question is - how do you refer to the other 菩萨? Because the 它 I used was for the Bodhisattvas in general. Appropriate? No? I'm not sure.

Interesting (though not entirely relevant) is that 观音 underwent a sex change in China sometime between the Tang and Song dynasties. All the early depictions are male - as the Indian and Tibetan versions (Avalokiteshvara) are - bare chested and often with a moustache. I'd opt for 她 to describe her, as she's very much considered a woman these days by the overwhelming majority of people in China (though in the sutras 观音 is referred to as being able to take on male or female incarnations).

yes, I realised that's why you went for the gender neutral 它, and so it was more of a question on my part than a correction [you may well be right here], because [I could be wrong here] I thought 它 is usually used for things, inanimate objects or ideas, not for people or deities. That's why I likened this quandary to how to refer to an unborn child when you don't know the sex. While 菩萨 is gender neutral as they were discussing, they were also referring to 观音 who is viewed as female, which is why I leant towards 她。 I guess a gender neutral person or deity is rare so there maybe no correct answer here, but I just wanted to see what others thought about this use of 它 and whether there was a default ta in such cases [ maybe it's 他】

But it's right when they are talking about how the Bodhisattva's are gender neutral. Shouldn't they be 它? Except for 观音 who I guess would be 她.

那其实菩萨它。。。this ta1 is tricky [bit like in English when you don't know if the foetus is a he or a she but you don't want to refer to "it" as "it"] ...no problems in Chinese in the oral domain but you're forced to come up with something in the written. I think I would have been inclined to go with 她 here. What do others think?
【唤】..hmm, I thought this was just 会, but perhaps you are right and it is something else.

Hi cinnamonfern - Good to see you having a go at a 中高级课程。Actually, I think it's a great way to start getting into the higher level lessons. Usually, when I listen to the higher levels for the first time they seem to be way above my head, but when you start to pull them apart you'll be surprised how much you can pick up.
The other bits:
Dilu(1): A typo - 先在 I guess is 现在。Also I think the 那 is probably 呢
Dilu (3): 关于佛教的一些的东西。(关于A的B - a B about/related to A) Again, I think the 那 is 呢。
Dilu (3): 你对佛教了解吗 John ？
