At noon on July 6, a Chinese Navy nuclear submarine successfully launched a submarine-launched strategic missile into the high seas of the Pacific.

This is the first time since China test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific in September 2024 that China has again openly conducted a Pacific-facing strategic missile test, and it is a rare case of China openly announcing that a submarine-launched strategic missile was flying toward the high seas of the Pacific.
