June 9, 2011 at 5:32 AMYeah exactly just have fun. All you need is decent music (not sure actually if I find La Gaga's songs really danceable). And it's simply true--nobody is watching. We all only look at the best dancers and the best-looking people and the outrageously dressed ones who want to be looked at. The rest of us are free to bang our heads, shake and do whatever.

June 9, 2011 at 4:17 AMJohn 的姐姐 de jiějie is like me haha.
We are not weirdos! And I think any real ballet dancer will tell you, all dance is related and separated only by the most permeable kinds of partitioning. Many Japanese students of ballet seem to have trouble with this thinking though; they can't see any relation between ballet and street or funk, rock--think ballet is exclusive--because they're taught that way, to the detriment of their ability to really express in their chosen discipline. Wonder if it's similar in China?
And everybody can dance. I guess if I were in China and someone asked me 你会跳舞吗? I would answer 没有不会的人啊! méiyǒu bùhuì de rén a
Hope you can do a ballet lesson in Inter or Upper Inter like that one Shen Yajin wrote for yoga. Please please please!

June 8, 2011 at 10:27 AMItsuki 五木 isn't a Japanese word but it is a proper noun, place name usually. There are two very famous Mr. Itsuki's (a singer and a writer) but both are pseudonyms. Could still also be a real surname in circulation too though.

June 4, 2011 at 6:01 AMHi Chris, I'd say 影响 and 打扰 are not generally interchangeable in the same way "affect" and "disturb/bother" (as in interrupt someone who is busy doing something, bother them by asking a question or asking them to do something) are not generally interchangeable.
I don't think 打扰 would work for 影响 in the sentence 不要在这里玩,会影响哥哥学习. But first, there's a cultural difference. In that situation in English we normally wouldn't say "You'll affect your brother's studies"; what we probably would say is "You'll disturb your brother". In any event we wouldn't say "You'll disturb your brother's studies" because that's not a good collocation, and I imagine the same goes for the Chinese here.
Other than that, it seems too formal and remote to me, to speak of 打扰ing someone in your family. But I may be mistaken. Hope someone who knows better can come add to this and correct me if needed!
