I'm also another Chinesepod listener whose native language is Spanish. I've been studying Mandarin for about six months now and it has been a real challenge. It is also very interesting process to learn a language (Chinese) using another language (English) that is not your native language (Spanish). Yes, it sounds confusing, doesn't it?

although grammar is the spinal cord of all languages, it is “hen wuliao”

I think we should give credit to the software engineer lady. Yes she has an accent, but her English was clear.

I do not like watching TV. In my opinion TV sucks free time from its TV audience. Many things you can do instead of watching TV like to read a book or magazine, go for a stroll in the park, check Chinese Pod…etc.

Kudos go-manly on the character dictionary, awesome tool.

I visited China last year for the first time and became enamored with the hospitality of its people. I am now a serious student (includes writing;) and hope to become “fluent” in Mandarin Chinese in the no so far future.  And of course I would like to go again for a longer period of time to beef up my language skills.
