July 19, 2011, 05:12 AMDavid, Greg, great show! Greg, I think you're doing a great job. When you explain things, I either have "Soooo true" moments or "Ok, not just me" moments.
One of my 白酒 experiences was with my gf's father when I went to visit in Shanghai. I was told to sip it, not shoot it, which was really good advice. This was for LUNCH, by the way. I'd be left really fuzzy wuzzy, and he would go back to work. This went on the whole time I was there. I was still in school. What a lesson.
Funny, if not awkward experience: Again drinking with my gf's father (for lunch), he shows me the bottle of 白酒 with herbs inside. Through translation, he tells me that this particular bottle with the specific herbs is "good for man". Don't know why he told me that....

June 09, 2011, 05:25 PMMy school in S. Florida, the Latin people taught the Chinese people how to dance salsa, whether they wanted to or not (usually they wanted to). First the steps, then the turns. Some were shy at first. Others picked it up right away. My roommate always needed to have a few drinks first, then he would allow himself to be pulled onto the dance floor. Then there are the other dances that we showed them, like The Shopping Cart, The Bus Driver...Throwing the Dice.....

June 01, 2011, 04:43 AMI got some brownie points today for learning this story. It was up there on the cuteness scale. So thanks for the help in that department... ;-)

May 29, 2011, 05:15 AMLast summer I had to buy some bags/purses in the States, then send them to friends in China, b/c apparently it's cheaper that way. I had to go to the outlet mall by myself, where I was given a list of what to get and a crapload of money, and told to choose other things that "look nice." When it comes to bags, it can drive one mad to pick something out. There I was, taking and sending pictures of all these bags. Entire walls and shelves of bags. The sales people were nice and suggested things. But what's cute and a must-have for one is garbage for someone else. I know nothing about bags, and I was supposed to pick something? Worst eight hours of my life. I laugh now, of course. It was very funny walking into the post office with ten bags.

April 18, 2011, 05:28 AMNegotiating prices for satellite? Wow!
I used to have satellite, and it was good. Except for when it rained a little too hard. :-( 下雨的时候看不到.

April 02, 2011, 06:39 AMI heard this one once "爱死你了." I thought it was a little weird, unless you like Wagner.
And I get this one a lot: 笨的要死。Especially from the girls. Sigh.....

August 18, 2011, 04:08 AMWhen I was in middle school, we had an hour or two before her parents got home to talk on the phone. When they did get home, it was time to hang up. That was fun.
