April 20, 2010 at 2:50 PMIn the expansion for this lesson I see this sentence: "帮我拿一下包。" - bāng wǒ ná yīxià bāo, hold my bag for a moment.
The word ordering is unusual to my eyes, can someone explain how this is constructed? (preferably in terms that a grammar-terrified student might understand please!). It's the usage of 一下 that's confusing me I think. "help me hold a moment bag" ..?

April 20, 2010 at 12:43 PMIt contains an evil capitalist life-belt with WRITING on it! Highly subversive.

April 20, 2010 at 9:19 AMYou're right! After all, we don't pronounce the h in halibut, herring, horticulture, has-been, heffalump, hump, huge, *continues to fade* ;-)

April 19, 2010 at 2:22 PMI much prefer the flowing melodic nature of the French language to the harsh guttural tones of the germanic tongue, doncha know ;)
Actually, my genetics is from north Germany, I should be on your side. Damnit!

April 20, 2010 at 3:34 PMAnother expansion sentence question. In another lesson, I've seen "菜还不来", but here I see it as "菜还没来". Is there any difference, or just interchangeable?
