November 30, 2007 at 11:06 PMHi Chittywangwang, I hope your comment is not a reference of all Chinese in general. I am Chinese and used to live in the Catskill area in New York state and I skied for over 30 years. Of that 30 years I taught skiing for 15 years and ski boarding for 5 years.

November 17, 2007 at 11:10 PMHi Shangyisheng, I thought I was the oldest guy trying to learn mandarin. I also was born in 1936. But fortunately my hearing is still in good shape. By saying that, I hope that I didn’t jinx myself. :-)

November 11, 2007 at 6:14 PMThere is a little known fact that some of you might not know it. The Cantonese spoken in NYC’s Chinatown (till 1965) was mostly 台 山. 話. 台 山. 縣 is in Guangdong. This dialect is different than the Cantonese spoken in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. After the change in the immigration laws in 1965, there is now a multitude of dialects spoken in NYC’s Chinatown. But Cantonese still the dominating dialect.

December 2, 2007 at 5:32 PMHi Sebire, Sugar is added after the 豆浆 is made. You can buy it unsweeten or sweeten. The ones that you buy (at least in NYC's Chinatown) is pretty much watered down. I have made 豆浆 myself many times and I can control the amount of water that goes into it. Unfortunately I am allergic to it. If you like, I can even tell how to make you own.
