I have also heard church refered to as jiao4hui4 (I think it's 4th tone). Does jiao4tang2 mean church (a building) and jiao4hui4 mean church (a community)?

I've seen Obama's name as 奧巴馬 and also 歐巴馬. Does it matter? Who decides anyway? Newspaper writers?

During this holiday in Taiwan, people often have a barbeque in the evening. It gives them something else to do besides gaze at the moon.

I thought of a mnemonic for yin2hang2. The character "yin2" by itself means "silver", and it sounds similar to yen (the japanese currency). Also, in the old days, if you rob a bank, people would "hang" you. Both of these are second tone, because if you're being hung, you would want to "rise" instead of fall! There you go... yin2hang2. I know... silly, but it works!
