September 28, 2007 at 2:46 AMWenlin reports both usages are possible. I've never personally heard sui1, but niao4 seems dominant in both Beijing and Shanghai (ie. 尿裤 - diaper). Adso defaults to niao4, so perhaps PeraKun is using CEDICT for its pinyin here.

September 27, 2007 at 11:13 AMWe actually have an in-office rift over this one. One of our recording engineers claims you can call a crotchety person 猫尿___. Connie disagrees. So if anyone who isn't from Shanghai actually uses this word please report back. It was a smaller hint, but As Good As It Gets was directed by Albert Brooks, who also did the film Broadcast News.

September 27, 2007 at 5:01 AM@Lantian -- I won 5 RMB once something like four years ago. You're the only other person I've ever heard of who's won.

September 27, 2007 at 4:59 AMAlternately, some Chinese-language googling for "cat urine" will probably point you in the right direction. Seriously.

September 27, 2007 at 4:57 AMCrouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Bazza? This is a romantic comedy!! Since no-one's guessed correctly yet, I'll drop another clue... this one was made in the 1990s. And don't forget the hints tucked away in the write-up. The first is a reference to another film by the same director. The second is a clue about one of the lead characters.

September 25, 2007 at 1:54 AMGeorge Miller is a genius. I wouldn't be surprised if he *could* remake the whole Mad Max trilogy using just barnyard animals and peanut butter.

September 21, 2007 at 6:55 AM@Rash, Road Warrior was excellent, and nothing holds a candle to its chase sequence. I'll take Thunderdome over the original Mad Max though, if just for Bartertown.

September 21, 2007 at 6:52 AMStunningly, we have NO winners this week. Lots of guesses for Babe, but not a single one for Babe 2: Pig in the City the underdog live-action pig movie directed (as Kyle pointed out) by George Miller, who directed Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGp-NMNU7_E

September 21, 2007 at 3:35 AMThis is like shooting fish in a barrel. Anyone know the connection to Tina Turner? It's the same for both films.
