:-) Speaking as a male I prefer listening to the female voices because for whatever reason, their speech is generally easier for me to follow. Could simply be I'm more used to listening to women than to men.

On a different topic I would be interested to know what the male/female ratio of learners is at Cpod.

I've been to both Las Vegas and Macau, both of which are famous for gambling and “good times”. They were both fun, but I prefer Macau because of the atmosphere, the food and the spectacular bridges across to Taipa.  Also I can practise my Chinese in Macau as although most locals are native Cantonese speakers, of course they all speak Mandarin too :-)

This is a great lesson for folk at my level, many thanks!

For what it’s worth, my experience of visiting a number of small towns for business around Chengdu and Xi’an is that I’ve been made incredibly welcome, taken for wonderful spicy meals that I’m never allowed to pay for, by the friendly folk who are so keen to practise their English with an Englishman that it’s almost impossible to practise my very simple Chinese :-)

Hi rjberki

I found your literal translation very useful, thank you.  As well as needing to understand the meaning behind the Chinese, I find the literal translations help me to understand the way the language is used.  This helps me avoid "Englese" :-)

As an enthusiastic  user (and promoter in the UK) of Chinesepod  I too would love the QW transcript embedded in podcast or on the web site ASAP :-D

Please keep up the great work!
