May 13, 2008 at 3:37 AMThat is interesting, autie. 14635: I prefer Gino's East! I know it's become sort of gentrified lately, but I really enjoy Wicker Park. The little neighbourhoods of Chicago are so much better than the "touristy" parts like NP. I feel that Chicago is generally cleaner than NY, and I don't think NY is as dirty as everyone claims. I enjoy both cities greatly, but Chicago will always have my heart.

May 10, 2008 at 6:26 PMAH! Chicago <3. I live in IL not far from Chicago. I'm there so often it feels like home to me. I love the place. The food in China town is sooo good, btw. I have a funny story regarding Chicago's Chinat Towne as well: I went to eat with a few of my friends, and the server handed everyone chopsticks but me, me being the only non Asian in the group. It was very odd and it embarassed me. Thanks to ChinesePod, I was able to say, "I want chopsticks, please!" It also seems to me that a lot of people in Chicago's China Town speak Cantonese rather than Mandarin.

May 8, 2008 at 3:30 AMI tried chosing my own Chinese name and came up with: 家没 My Chiense friends insist that it's no good. =[ they've labled me: 吉米

May 8, 2008 at 3:20 AMI embarassingly admit that, after two months, I'm still not fully sure the diffference between "zhende" and "zhen." Is there one? Are these interchangable?

March 12, 2008 at 5:53 AMWell, I'm not totally sure. It was in a telephone txt conversation. I didn't understand her txt message, and replied "shenme." Her reply was, "...when you just said 'shen me' in Chinese to someone like that is not really nice." I was just trying to clarify what she meant. 谢谢,你!

March 11, 2008 at 9:25 PMI've recently had someone from China tell me that saying just "shenme," like we would say "What?" in China is not polite. Why is this?
