I think there might be a mistake in the transcription, too. In the sentence "地把武术和娱乐融和在一起", shouldn't it be "融合" (to mix together, fuse, blend) rather than "融和" (pleasantly warm; genial)?

In the West, it's quite popular to play it on web forums, with rounds lasting several days. Is this done in China as well. Anyone know? Participating in such a forum game could be excellent practice for reading and writing.

Actually, the translations in this dialogue are pretty messed up in general. They need a thorough looking over.

TECH ISSUE: Lots and lots of words and phrases are missing from the popup translations in this dialogue.

Oh, sorry, Xiaophil; I don't read the comments in Mandarin. Regarding the Native Americans, I think it's fairly well established that they came from Siberia via the Bering Strait, as Orangina points out. Wether or not they spent some time in China before that I'm not sure. It's possible, I guess. But that was so long before there was any China that it doesn't make much sense to call them an "ancient Chinese tribe" anymore than it is to say that my ancestors were Mongols just because the would-be Europeans spent some time in Central Asia after emigrating from Africa.

Well, he was a viking, after all. They've had pretty lousy PR overall.

Lies! Damned lies! Here I come to study a lesson on history and find ChinesePod spreading the ridiculous lie that Columbus discovered America! Everyone knows it was Leif Eriksson (萊夫·埃里克松) who discovered it in 1003.

As compensation for my wounded national pride, I demand you do a lesson on vikings.

(Okay, someone's undoubtedly going to claim it was the native Americans who discovered it first. To which I reply: "… uh … shaddup, you.")

Here's a link to the song, by the way.

Aww. This is once again a lesson talking about something exciting instead of a lesson where something exciting happens. I want more action lessons!

Still, fun and of course very useful lesson!

Thanks for the tip! I just saw the trailer. It was teh awesomelicious. I too am very curious as to what the reception will be in China. It's the first movie dealing with racism in China that I've heard about.
