Could you also say that 就 in this example also kind of indicates cause-and-effect? For example, could you translate this as "My mom won't let me do it, so I'm just going to do it" or even "If my mom won't let me do it, I'm definitely going to do it anyway"
My girlfriend says something to me often that is another example of what I call this 就 cause-and-effectness:

well when you translate it literally it kind of makes sense... like "not many differences" ...so he's probably commenting on blandness and the dumbing down of society? like 看了差不多的電影 movies in the theatres are all the same. it's all the same bs...
but that's just a guess
