I agree completely. It is nearly impossible for us non-native speakers to get much out of this without a text to refer to. We do not have a PDF version now because of technical deficiencies. But it is in the works and will be introduced very soon.

Good question. The 最终 here means "in the end, in the final analysis." The most idiomatic American English translation would've been "at the end of the day," but I thought some poddies might take it literally.
终 appears in many useful words, such as "finally" 终于.

Yes, 打表 da3biao3 is a very handy phrase. This has the added benefit of getting you a receipt with the cab company's phone number and the ID number of the car you rode in. So if the guy tries anything funny, you can say 我要投诉你!

I'm not completely sure what you mean by "one of those Chinese patriots." The guy who made the movie is quite well educated, and can read English and German fluently (although his written English could use some work, judging by the subtitles.)
In a way, this kind of person is more destabilizing and troubling than the loudmouth at the bar who slams down his mug and tells you "what the world needs."
I know what you mean about thinking these "patriots" are funny in a way. But many extreme nationalist groups look laughable before they look horrifying. Remember the Beer Hall Putsch.

一样 yi1yang4 means "the same, or equally."
You can say "这两个东西一样贵-- these two things are equally expensive."
Or, you could say "这三本书都一样--these three books are all the same.”

Those guys are definitely illegal taxis.
They sometimes have deals where they try to deliver you to hotels/massage parlors staffed by ladies of easy virtue.

Yes, those guys are definitely operating in a grey area of the law.
In Shanghai, taxi drivers rent their cabs by the month for about 10,000 RMB. They have to make that back before they get any profit. They try to keep them in operation 24/7 whenever possible, and I have talked with a few who rotate 12-hour shifts with a brother. It's a hard way to make a living, and so some will supplement their income by driving without running the meter.
Some illegal cabs are just random people who are trying to make a few extra kuai. They are the dodgiest, in my opinion.
