October 28, 2010, 05:28 AMI was wondering if the 是不是 construction can be generalized to verb-不-verb.
For example. I was ordering a plate of jiaozi from across the street and I said 我要一份儿饺子 (wǒ yào yī fènr jiǎozi). I wasn't sure if those little brown steaming plates were called "fènr 份儿" or not so I said. 这叫份儿马? (zhè jiào fènr ma), and the lady said yes.
But, I was wondering if I could have said "叫不叫份儿" (jiào bú jiào fènr) in English: "Is this called X or not?"
