Speaking (as a man!) I don't think the problem is anything to do with Chinese v Western attitudes. In England (some) women will ask the same questions and (some) men will have the same answers - it's the fundamental fact that women want to catch a man and hold on, men are not looking for that initially

August 25, 2007 at 4:48 AMThe vocabulary in this lesson is somewhat complementary to the one on Table Tennis. I had never heard of 'spike' not being a volleyball fan or player. Racket sports that I know use the English word 'smash'. Does Chinese have an equivalent word? I am looking forward to a lesson on badminton (or perhaps tennis)

Taipan: what on earth has Serge done to you to merit such an insult? Incidentally, a Chinese from Beijing of my acquaintance says Serge's Chinese is fantastic
