In French we use the same colour (in the eyes) to express anger; when a person is very (and suddenly) angry we say:

Il a vu rouge! (he saw red!)

I remember that back in the seventies ( Dear! Am I that old ???!??!) it had been decided that children starting to learn English would be taught the language orally during the first term; they were supposed to get a better pronunciation ! But they were given a few written signs of international pronunciation alphabet , which later made the poor students mix the right spelling of words with their transcription in pronunciation , just like Chinese children!

Bye bye!

We, non native English speaking people, love Chinesepod ,lessons AND hosts!

By the way mmysdf, what is "detatched"? Don't tell me you too make mistakes!!!?!!

changye Here in France, I've heard some people say "ouistiti" (marmoset), especially when taking photos of young children.

shiwuqingren Thanks for the website. It's very helpful and ......... YUMMY! Jennyzhu I had to have my car repaired last week ... and realized I could not say "there's a weird noise when I start my car" or "it wouldn't start this morning" etc. I know it wouldn't be very useful in Marseille but wouldn't it be a good idea for a lesson?
