Anybody knows what the English system (AA, AAA, etc) is based on? And more to the point, what does the Chinese system (no. 5, no. 7, etc) refer to?

I got a question about the MW for batteries: jie2. Does yi jie2 dian4chi2 mean a battery or a pack of batteries? The translation and Jenny and John's explanation seem somewhat at odds.

I just had an idea:) how about a Qing Wen on this "infamous" 是。。。的 pattern and its variants?

Thanks again, baomaijin! ...I am looking forward to that grammar guide that ChinesePod is (hopefully) still planning to release....

Thanks for the explanation, Baomaijin! But then, what about the second sentence (我们是帮你存钱.)? What is the pattern there?

There is one pattern with 是 that I am having trouble with in the dialogue, for example in this sentence: 你不是很喜欢放鞭炮吗? I think the same pattern may also be at work further down in the dialogue: 我们是帮你存钱. Any help out there to help me understand this pattern? :)

The "ge" that you guys used in one of this Qing Wen's example, meaning "song": zhe4 xxx ge1 wo3 yi3jing1 ting1 le yi1 bai3 bian4 le.

Thanks, RJBerki! This looks like a good resource! Amber, I have one question concerning the examples: what is the MW for ge1? -- I couldn't quite figure it out. (Any good resource out there for a list of measure words?)

I paused in the middle of this lesson to write this message. I am wondering whether I will get any feedback though, considering the original publication date for this segment, but who knows? I think this lesson is super useful. Basically you are explaining a grammar point, or grammatical structure, through fun examples. Ken, you often make the point in your podcasts that the inductive method is so much better than abstract grammatical explanations (those are my words, not yours, for sure, but I think that's what you mean basically). I am curious, is there a link between this and the fact that the Grammar Section has been so long in coming? I would really be interested in getting a sense of what is happening with your Grammar guide. I think I read somewhere that you are working at making it more interactive than what the first release was -- which I think is a great idea. At the same time I feel it is a shame not to allow us to use what exists, in the meantime. However, and not to be pessimistic, but, if the Grammar section release date is not for a while, any suggestions from anybody about a user-friendly basic Chinese Grammar for someone like me who is studying totally on her own? Hoping someone will read this!!! -- If not, I might just recycle it...:) Ma Yue
