April 07, 2011, 05:47 PM你好 Henning. I guess I see what you mean. As for the Language/Words used in the dialogue, I feel that all the words are learnable newbie words. As for the Cultural references, I don't know what's going on. I guess I would have to live in China for me to understand all the cultural refences. But, I do believe that it's best to get confronted with all sorts of conversation situations in order to move up through the levels of Chinesepod. I live in the U.S., so I guess that's why I don't understand all the awkward silent moments. Little by little I will get exposed to all the cultural references through Chinesepod, Pimsleur, InstantImmersion, friends and Googletalk Language exchange buddies. 再见.

January 19, 2011, 02:01 AMLolz, this lesson was hilarious and very useful. I say halarious, because it's funny how the crowd laughs once the native speaker gets a boost of energy once he recieves his coffee. Lolz, yes the speaker was grumpy, just like most New Yorkers (Americans) here in the States, but not me I always remember my Cashier days, so that's why I always try to be polite, no matter what.

The speakers were great, as regards to the exact wording John commented about, it's a little hectic to learn the exact wording of sentences, but it's a great challenge. The tones and difficulties make knowing the English language so boring compared to learning Mandarin. ChinesePod makes learning Mandarin seem easier.
