The BBC reported the opening of the Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed link today using footage from CCTV. The CCTV seemed to be using  高铁 (gao1tie3) as maocat mentioned for Taiwan. Is this phrase now in use on the mainland? Would you still ask for a 动车 （dong4che1)  ticket for a trip on this train?

Thanks, I can understand that it's easier to say. The more I read the more 'flexible' tones seem to be.

But I take it from your comments that the vocab list is wrong and it should be xuéshēng qiānzhèng and not xuēshēng qiānzhèng?

Can anyone explain why in the vocabulary list the tones on 学生签证 are xuēshēng qiānzhèng rather than  xuésheng qiānzhèng?
