Hey all,

I think there's somethign wrong with the exercises on this lesson. Most of what looks like the right answers in the multiple choice are blank. Here's what I see:

_____Shànghǎi tǐng rè de.

•  A. diǎncài
•  C. báijiǔ
•  B. dōngběi dàlāpí
•  D.

Also, the sentence reordering doesn't actually contain the whole dialog; there's a couple of lines missing.

I noticed in this lesson that the possessive particle de (的) is used for one's children. However, in another lesson I was lisening to recently, they said that it would sound weird if you add that particle for mom and dad. (i.e. use 我爸爸 instead of 我的爸爸). Are there some rules on which family members/things you do or do not use the 的 for?

I have  quick question on this expansion exercise:

今晚老板请员工喝酒，你来吗？

In this case, the time bit (今晚) comes at the very start of the sentence. I've seen that in a couple of the other lessons' expansion exercises. I thought that in most cases, the time bit should come immediately before the verb, so it would be:

老板今晚请员工喝酒，你来吗？

I assume both are correct, but is the second preferable, or are both about the same? Are there times you definitely would put the time bit at the very beginning of the sentence?

Is there a reason that in this expansion sentence:

工号555的工作人员服务太差了，我要投诉他。

... the word "工作人员" was used for "employee", instead of just "员工"? 

Could you also shorten it to either of these:

工号555的员工服务太差了，我要投诉他。

or just:

工号555的服务太差了，我要投诉他。

he2xu4, I'm also using a Mac, so it might be the default font that the Mac has for Chinese characters.

svik, thanks for posting that image. When looking at this page, I see the Hiragino-style mén. (i.e. the 4th from the top).

I guess it's just small differences based on font.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it is the font. For me, when I look at the 门 character, the stroke is in the top middle. There's no break in the long "border" stroke in the top-left, like there is for 问, and the short stroke is vertical.

I'm a bit confused by the 门 (mén - doors) character. As I understand it, \"doors\" is 門 in traditional script. And \"ask\" is 問 in traditional script. Since \"ask\" is 问 in simplified, I would have expected the simplified version of \"doors\" (門) have the little stroke in the top-left. What's going on there?

The lesson content was great, but the "Sentence Re-ordering" section of this lesson's exercises had some problems.

There's three identical "nǐ ne?" sentences in the dialog. The site doesn't seem to handle that very well - it told me that mine were out of order:
