pdq123 My Understanding By dictionary definition 小姐 (xiǎo jie) means "young lady; miss." But from local Shànghǎi (上海) knowledge it is also used as a term / slang for a prostitute. I guess a "Lady of the night" kind of thing??

Yea!!!! great lesson and very important language. OK thats is purely my opinion. although the old 不要 (bù yào) on one occasion did get a "Oh you speak Chinese?" and a flick on the chest of cigarette ash. May be he was having a bad day???? They are persistent sales people though running against traffic to catch up with you. Wow gotta give them some credit. Roller skates anyone???
