June 14, 2010 at 11:34 AMActually I don't like soccer but I love they way they get together and watch the games. I was trying to buy something last night and the guy in front of me had a cart full of things to enjoy while watching the game.

June 14, 2010 at 6:35 AMThanks jen,
We had to buy a new TV for my father-in-law before the World Cup started. It's amazing that in the shopping center below our apartment they have set up a stage with a big tv for people to watch the games.

June 14, 2010 at 6:02 AMIs the World Cup on "regular tv" in China? Here in Hong Kong it is only on 1 major cable company and I'm with the other company.

June 9, 2010 at 1:32 AMHey sydcarten,
We shall have to talk more about this when the Cantonese series comes. I've got several from Greenwood Press.

June 7, 2010 at 11:03 AMI agree. I learned using the Yale system. I think there is still interest in Sidney Lau's books. You can still seem them on the bookshelves here in Hong Kong. However, there are very few people learning Cantonese - well at least from what I see.
I'm looking forward to the Cantonese lessons.

May 24, 2010 at 6:10 AMI was wondering who this new guy was and then I saw it was you. It's been years since I got a D on a report about "The Great Gatsby". I haven't seen the movie but will have to check it out.
Wasn't there a bunch of stuff about green lights/ red lights - or am I just forgetting it?

April 19, 2010 at 7:14 AMI'm really looking forward to this. I wonder how many people actually try to learn Shanghainese. I guess there are not a lot of learning materials available.

September 7, 2010 at 3:26 AMjen,
I agree - it's marvelous. I even have mine connected to my credit card so I don't have to bother to have it recharged.
