Posted on: Studying Japanese
September 8, 2007 at 9:25 PMIn the Chinese school that I participate in, you must learn for 12 years and complete at least 12 writing books before you are considered completely fluent. (The writing books usually take a while to complete.) I don't know what it's like at other Chinese schools, or if they follow the same method.

September 8, 2007 at 2:26 AMVery true, about the disrespect thing. I never behaved that well at all...just don't tell my laoshi that... I used to know children who always claimed that they were going to be smarter than their parents when they were older, so they weren't going to bother respecting them. Jenny- I would rather worry about that math test than have three boyfriends...yikes. I'm far too quiet, I can't make a good convesation. I think I'm just going to study Chinese in a corner. XD

September 5, 2007 at 4:02 PMHow to deal with this problem: guess, and just hope that you aren't slapped when you decide that they're a 'xiaojie'.
Posted on: What time is it?
September 8, 2007 at 10:48 PM现在,几点了? In Chinese class, my laoshi said that we could just say ‘几点了’to ask the time. From what I've read, if you study another language, your native language improves.
