Thanks Jason. Wasn't sure if was a local dialect thing... I've definitely heard both used interchangeably by many people from many different regions. Just wasn't sure if one way or the other was considered to be the set standard. To me it seems to depend on some kind of intuitive response to the inflection of what is being said in conjunction with what words are being said in that sentence as to when to use either of those pronunciations... if that makes sense. I guess I'm saying I'm not sure if a native speaker would hear me say nà instead of nèi in any given circumstance and vice versa and think that the opposite form would be the proper pronunciation. I guess I won't sweat it. Thanks again.

BTW - 不好意思 ...sorry for the delayed reply on my part as well. :)

I'd like to know if the standard pronunciation of 那边 is na4bian with na pronounced as nah as one would expect when looking at the pinyin, or as nay as it sounds like it is being pronounced by the native speaker in this and in other lessons.

This lesson was just what I needed. I have always been lazy and just used 告诉 whenever I wanted to say so-and-so told me something, whether reported or paraphrasing or just to say someone said. Thanks! BTW - 你談戀愛吗?HAHA!!! Just kidding... Wanted to use another instance of 談!!!
