If the parents were really nonchalant a dad might reply "Well son, I ejaculated into your mother and nine months later you came out." I think the dialogue exemplifies peoples' discomfort when dealing with sexual issues. However, I am in no way suggesting Westerners are any better. They also have a tendency to give ridiculous answers to their children.

My point was that you can get the background ( grammar, sentence patterns,tones, whatever) from starting at the very beginning rather than from a lesson that has been preceded by literally hundreds of other lessons. I've been whining for months now asking Chinesepod to make "elementary level" more difficult so I have a problem with your suggestion that they aught to take a step back. I think the earlier lessons provide exactly the kind of efficient material you are looking for. If you have studied all the earlier stuff and really feel I'm wrong about that then be my guest and bitch away.
