March 20, 2008 at 10:09 AMAs a true chinese extreme knitter, I too am disappointed you didnt give information on how to ask for 'balls' of wool, double knit, 4 ply etc. I knitted my way through a 5 day wait during the Winter storms. I have taught chinese knitters to knit bobbly sweaters and taught non knitters to knit hats. For any other knitters in china always buy at least one extra ball. A 100gram ball just isnt in China.

September 18, 2007 at 4:37 AMAs Nikola says The Expansion and Exercises on this lesson do not work for me, and on the pdf, there is no supplementary vocabulary. Is that correct?

June 15, 2007 at 5:14 AMjust a small point, and its ages since this lesson was podcast but there is an error in the vocab. Children's playgroud rather than playground.

May 30, 2007 at 4:52 AMOK vital info on shoes in China for us larger footed ladies: Shoe sizes in China sometimes come as continental sizes and sometimes as cms ie 43 = UK 8.5-9 American 10 and Chinese 26.5. Most shoe shops seem to understand both measurements. If you fear that you will forever have to live in mens shoes do as I do and retreat to the traditional slipper shops! There I can get comfortable, shoes that magically make my clodhoppers look several sizes smaller. They might not go with a business suit, (neither do trainers) but if you're teaching all day, go fo it.

April 24, 2007 at 12:08 AMShanghai and subways are a long way away from Gansu, but what word would you use for the end of a bus route?something akin to zhongdian (sorry for some reason my characters are working this morning) Unlike the big cities we dont have fixed price fares, so you need to know the name of the place where you want to get off!

April 13, 2007 at 10:44 AMGlad you can all access this lesson, cos I cant. Nothing seems to work from the dialogue to the expansion exercises. A bit of a let down after all the excitement.
