Content suggestion: on phone plans in China. This has culture, language and curiosity (quite different to the West.) Also, real practical for people living here. At the moment more than half of what I pay is 'wasted' (I don't or can't use it) and I want to change my plan.

在《逃出魔幻纪》(Jumanji)人物经常说‘我们必须玩儿到底’。如果他们做完了,这个游戏放他们走。

Some organisms are hard to kill. Avoided the patent medicine quick fix. The remedy I pursued was eating nothing out of a packet, bottle or can (still something I aspire to). Nothing at all for three days, just mineral waters/sports drinks. Then a diet of steamed potato, squash and pears for weeks on end, and then gradually adding one vegetable after another. Then adding steamed chicken breast. Hmmm, I loved those meals.

'I dropped a piece of pastry on the floor and hurriedly picked it back up'

A Chinese friend here says her family has the 'three second rule' just like we have in Australia. If you pick it up fast enough it will be fine. Most of the time. :)

I have had three food poisoning episodes, surprising because I have a preference for cheap restaurants. The first (& worst) was a Chinese restaurant in Sydney - it took about 3 months to be rid of whatever I picked up. 2nd, a 5-star hotel in Hangzhou eating 'Western' food. Third, not too long ago at an expensive restaurant here where I live. Under-cooked black chicken. 70 RMB from memory. Actually my first preference is to eat at home.

如果有两个人,还有只一个厕所, 有问题,对吧?

'what game was that?'

I guess you had to go to boarding school in the Dark Ages. Kids pleaded with parents 'Do NOT send birthday cards! Spread the word.' A birthday in Winter meant being thrown in the fountain. (That's the only game I can mention in a G-rated show.) The world is now a safer place.

Ha ha glad you liked it. Not sure I got it loud and clear either, I thought along the lines of 'rumour mongers get a clip over the ears 'loud and clear' to remember'.

耳光 I think of a slap on the cheek (耳 also means 'flanking') that leaves your face 光 (shining ) red.

Pinch and a punch for the first of the month.

Ah, takes me back.

I used to dread birthdays because of the violence visited on you.

The 现代汉语词典says: 用手打在耳朵附近的部位叫打耳光 (hitting in the vicinity of the ear is called '打耳光')。Doesn't answer your question really, does it? :) Dictionaries actually give two meanings to 耳光, one 'slapping the face' and the other 'hitting or boxing the ear'. I 'like' the idea of seeing stars. The sentence in 现代汉语词典 is a reminder of a different culture:

事实给了造谣的人一记响亮耳光。
