When I arrive to China, was no use to the cold and the hot water exclusive hours. Because I was slepping very late talking with friend and family, the next day missed the hot water hours.... So I learned to use the hot boiler coffe machine to get hot water and then take a bath.
I was feeling so bad to get water, waiting to boil, put it in a bucket, then do it again like 3 times. Finally I learned to go to sleep on time and get up on time specially when Beijing was around -15°. ^^

I found this sentence as examples. Both were translated with the same meaning in English, but my question is, ¿in Chinese is also equal meaning or have something different?

I lived in Beijing and also got a job so I know pretty well how things turn out at 8 o'clock in the downtown.
I learned what I heard and sometime I used 口一下 But never knew if I was right... is this ok?

I have a question for this lesson, why 长 is used in the sentence 他女朋友长什么样？
I know 长 as "long" like in 长城 but not as "look alike" or something like that. I am a little confused. 0.o
Note. Last year when I was in Beijing every day I was so astonished for the male look...sometimes was very hard to find out the gender. In Japan they call them "vegetarian men" because they don´t have the aggressive look anymore.
