Here in northwest China, dog is conspicuous on restaurant menus and signage. How could CPod do an entire lesson without once mentioning this?

"你男人应该大方一点。"

How sexist. Given that men usually do pay, perhaps this sentence should be directed at females.

Research is quite clear that 6 (max 11) is the optimum number for new words and concepts in any one language lesson.

Once again, Chinese Pod has made a lesson 'tough' not by providing 6 'tough' new words/concepts but by overwhelming the student with an excessive number of new vocabulary in the Expansion and Grammar sections far exceeding the capacity of most students to learn effectively.

The student thus does not learn the extra material, and the ability to learn the material in the basic lesson is also compromised, leading to failure and frustration.

The basic lesson itself is good, but the Expansion and Grammar tabs need to focus on reiteration of the lesson's exact language, NOT add new words, characters and concepts which are undiscussed and un-analyzed.

This is a fundamental element of language instruction, and CPod's major weakness is that it occasionally fails to accommodate this widely accepted research.

I enjoyed the joke however - I'll be telling it at work tomorrow.

A small complaint: in the exercises audio, the narrator clearly says '别玩儿了' but this is marked incorrect and the correct answer is shown as '别玩了.' Normally when the 'er' sound is heard, it is also part of the written answer. Some consistency would be appreciated.
