Bazza, Maybe Smoke is the essence, or the mere reflction, of someting. Its a good memory tool anyway. I always got the same impression from the character. I think its the Marlborro man standing in the mirror. Its a neat character - I wish they were all this easy to remember.

"Bum" as in to beg or borrow permanently is american as far as I knew and I grew up in Ohio. Aert - dont forget pop vs soda. You only have to go a few miles to see that change.

I thinki the secondary smoke thing is way over blown. I dont smoke and I would prefer smoke free but I dont let it be an issue. I think of it as freedom, a good thing, we have too many rules and too much pc these days. Its a fad, it will pass.

Sebire, will you be checking cpod during your trip? We could make a game of following you. "where in the world is Sebire today". Anyway you could make an agreement with parents to check e-mail once a day as back-up.

Sebire, wow, lucky you. What you need is a satellite phone but they are expensive. Perhaps you could rent one. I think I would get a couple sim cards and there would just be some gaps. Another option is to buy an international calling card (like a credit card) that has minutes on it, and they are usually very cheap. You would have to use someones cell or a land line to call home but the calling card would pay for the calls and keep them reasonable. You dial in the calling card number and you are good to go. Then you make the call. Maybe buy 2 sim cards and a calling card to cover the gaps or some other combination. Have fun.

Sebire, I guess it depends on how important it is to you to be able to make calls local and to home. If your current cell will function in those countries, granted it will be expensive calling, but if you only need for emergency you will have it. What I like about having a Chinese phone is I can send sms home to the states very cheap and I can make local calls and send local sms as well. Buy the ones that make sense to have. Sounds like a great trip coming up. Which countries will you visit?

I just dont like the way the international one offered here works. I think You dial and then it calls you back when the connection is ready. I prefer a different sim for each country. Phones cost about the same in China as the US I have found.

Sebire, I use the same unlocked phone in china and Mexico by changing sim cards. Yours will work the same Im sure. You will have to buy a China Mobile sim card and then add some minutes. You can buy unlocked phones and sim cards here: http://www.telestial.com/sim_cards.php It is cheaper to buy the card in China of course.
