Posted on: Help with Luggage
August 11, 2011 at 6:58 AMI think in former times, Chinese people had their luggage often stored in a kind of drapery, which was folded to a bundle. Probably the shape of this bundle has often looked like a prune. That's why they called it "travelprune"...?! I'm not sure, I only guess...

August 4, 2011 at 2:47 PMIt depends on the context... So in some constructions like "yào... *something is going to happen* ... le" it should not be interpreted as "want". I'm not sure, but there may be some other expressions like that. I think, in some contexts it has also the meaning of "have to", but therefor someone else with more Chinese background has to give you an answer!

August 3, 2011 at 11:10 PMAs matthewrudi mentioned:
"yào *do something* le" (something is about to happen)
Check Qing Wen-Lesson:

I think, this lesson gives you a good answer on this le-thing... :)

August 3, 2011 at 9:32 AMI'm not sure about (probably I didn't get it), but has there been any example with (没)有 (past tense) in the meaning of "did not have"? How do you express that? Or is it out of the context to differentiate which time is used,... past, present or future?
e.g.:
可以不可以说:“上个星期我没有女朋友,可是现在有。“?
Last week I didn't have a girlfriend, but now I do.
