I totally agree. The Beijing Olympics mascots weren't amazing, but at least they seemed like the designer(s) was really trying!

You know, I wouldn't be that surprised if he was designed by some government official's kid... :)

It doesn't refer to a specific month, but rather a month's time. So the calendar used is not an issue.

Before adopting the Western months, the Chinese simply used their traditional lunar calendar: 农历 (nónglì).

I'm no historian, but here's what Wikipedia says:

The Gregorian calendar was adopted by the nascent Republic of China effective January 1, 1912 for official business, but the general populace continued to use the traditional calendar. The status of the Gregorian calendar was unclear between 1916 and 1921 while China was controlled by several competing warlords each supported by foreign colonial powers. From about 1921 until 1928 warlords continued to fight over northern China, but the Kuomintang or Nationalist government controlled southern China and used the Gregorian calendar. After the Kuomintang reconstituted the Republic of China October 10, 1928, the Gregorian calendar was officially adopted, effective January 1, 1929. The Peoples Republic of China has continued to use the Gregorian calendar since 1949.

Brian,

You're right that you can no longer jump directly to the expansion section. However, you can change a lesson's status simply by clicking on the icon on the far left. Keep clicking to cycle through different lesson statuses.

The iTunes feed update issue was temporary and should be resolved now. You should not have to make any changes in iTunes to continue to receive your lessons.

Yeah... and for the most part, you can almost "take your pick" of the explanations and just go with one. It's not actually going to interfere with communication most of the time.

I do understand, though, that many learners just want to know the rule and master it. Mandarin can be frustrating in that respect.

I totally understand. The learner perspective is a critical part of our method, and I'm a big believer in it. So I certainly don't mind your comment, and I appreciate the reminder.

其实我的手不是特别大,但有一点可以确定:我并没有弹钢琴的天赋! :)
