November 18, 2009 at 1:42 PM你好jgwilson,
I used Rosetta Stone for 1 and 1/2 years.
Rosetta Stone is useful but cannot compare to the robust atmosphere I notice on this platform(chinesepod.com). I'm a relatively new member to this group/community and am drawn back to it's everyday usefulness as it applies to learning a foreign language. I use it for Chinese(most of the time) and French(some of the time). My experience with Asian base language is limited but I have not come across any other platform that brings one up to speed as fast. The combination of the dialogue - discussion - Expansion- Test and different learning programs suited to the learner is attractive: Good bang for your buck. Rosetta Stone has it's merits and I enjoyed using the software but it's dated. . However- I did learn many new words using Rosetta Stone. Just did not know how to put them all together till coming here to Chinesepod.

Rosetta Stone/
in reply to your post to me I would say 对.
the software will build up vocabulary and is a good supplement to an active/robust language learning program. I think it's worth the money. Off you go! (and good luck)
