大家好!I'm having trouble understanding when and when not to use the term le5 / 了. At first I thought I need it to speak in past tense, but now that doesn't seem to be correct either. Anyone who can help me out? 谢谢你们!

Hey there,

1. Have you tried changing the settings within the iPhone app? You can choose which of your lessons you want to see. Dont forget to tap the reload button in the lessons tab after changing the settings. This might solve your problem.

3. I regularly download lessons, vocab etc. on the go. Whether on Wifi or just my mobile network, the downloads are very quick. So your issue can't be the app's fault.

大家好!

I think the value of the audio review file of this particular lesson could be improved by making the context part more challenging. More of the 'expansion sentences' or modifications of those should be included.

Apart from that, I like this lesson a lot!

This is how I get it (please correct me if I'm wrong):

Without "guo":

你去中国吗? -- Are you going to China?

With "guo":

你去过中国吗? -- Have you been to China?

So, the "guo" turns the sentence into past tense.

你好大家!

I have a question concerning one of the expansion sentences in this lesson:

认识英国人。(Wǒ rènshi yī ge yīngguórén.)

What exactly is the purpose of 个 (ge)?

谢谢。

Nǐ hǎo, everyone!

I am Nik from Germany and I've just started learning Mandarin. After two days only I feel ChinesePod is worth every penny!

However, I was wondering whether, as a total newbie, I should focus on the spoken language first and learn the written signs later or learn both at the same time. I'm afraid that learning the signs may take a very long time thus holding me up. Any advice from more experienced users is appreciated!

Xièxie! :)
